Data Release Dashboard

Project Overview

This impact analysis program analyses all the data from the Central Database that affects applications in the downstream pipeline. Any data updated on the Central Database has subsequent impacts on several applications. This Dashboard compiles and analyses this impact on applications and provides conclusive data on the details for users to view. It also intimates upcoming data releases and the date of release.

My Role

My Role

As a sole UX Designer, I collaborated with stakeholders to define product strategy and design direction. I also ensured the end-to-end execution and delivery from research to dev handoffs

Team

  • Design Manager - Chandrashekar Mehra

  • UX Designer - Gnanaeshwar Srinivas

Problem Statement

Design a dashboard to monitor the data releases on the central database and its impact on other application with quickly and efficiently.

Hueristic Evaluation of the Current portal

Hueristic Evaluation

Heuristic evaluation helps understand the existing product and identify its strengths and weaknesses. Through this understanding, we can ensure that we identify and retain functionality that works with the users while simultaneously exploring new opportunities and optimizing user experience

Information Architecture

Detailed User Flow

With a clear understanding of user flows, we can streamline multiple processes, reducing friction, and ensuring that users can achieve their goals with minimal effort.

Wireframes

Wireframing our solutions helps map out the hierarchy of functions and focus on capturing the products core purposes. This enabled us to validate our preferred design direction with stakeholders.

Key learning and Takeaways

Building professionl rapport with the product and business team

The project came to me with a limited scope and no direct design involvement. It was essentially a simple consultation, with a timeline of less than a week.

The existing product had significant potential for improvement in many areas, and taking extra initiative could pay off well in the long term. I conducted a detailed heuristic evaluation and went further by redesigning a key screen to demonstrate the potential value added through UX. This effort yielded positive results, albeit with some limitations.

While the project still has areas for improvement that were deemed out of scope, establishing this relationship has given us access to projects with greater impact and scale. Although limited, this project proved to be a launching ground for larger engagements for the UX team as a whole.

Limited Research and no usabiity testing

A common issue that plagued this project was the limited research throughout the design process. Due to the tight timeline and apprehension regarding research from the product team, we had to rely on informal and direct conversations with the team. Consequently, the quality of data fell short. Prior detailed planning and pitching could have mitigated some of these issues. However, similar situations are relatively common, so building an MVP and iterating on it can prove beneficial, provided the budget and funding account for it.
